5 Tips for Productivity

Want to be more productive?

1. Accomplish something first!

Accomplishing a task early in the day sets the tone for how the rest of your day will go. Make your bed, complete a five-minute meditation, jot down a journal entry or do some push ups. Complete something that is joyful, healthy and tangible to show yourself that you are capable and ready to greet the day!

2. Make a list, but keep it to 5 or 7 tasks.

Having more than 7 tasks on a to do list can become overwhelming and unrealistic. Completing every task on a to do list is extremely satisfying, so start small. If you complete the list, then you can simply make a new one.

3. Tackle your biggest challenge of the day first.

Getting the most time consuming or emotionally taxing task out of the way leaves energy for everything else in the day. Again, think of the sense of achievement that comes with this.

4. Time blocking.

When you look at a task, estimate how much time it will take you to finish. Next, set a timer for that amount whether it is 5 minutes or 30 minutes. If you finish before the timer, then great. If you’re still working when the timer goes off, write down how much time you spent and assess how much more time you might need. Then take a deep breath and move on.

5. Turn off social media notifications.

Do yourself a favor and go to settings to turn off your notifications. You will save yourself time and stress by not getting alerts until you are intentionally looking for them.
